Celia Lostrego

Disconnected from my own land because of changing places from an early age, I found my relief in grounding the thoughts within clays from different lands I stepped in.

Experimenting with soils everywhere I went, I found the stability in constant change within my creations. In my ceramic research, I always incorporate little things I find in my trips to nature, be it stones, pigments or tree textures. I am attracted to rounded organic shapes which give me a feeling of comfort, as they represent an idea of imperfect living conditions that lead to unrepeatable beauty.

In 2016 I came to Porto. This place felt like a fair reflection of who I was and what inspired me, because of its mysterious, modest and run-down, yet deeply poetic feel.

I was since then sharing my knowledge, that I gathered during years of travels, with all kinds of people. I dedicated few years to work at Espaço T as a ceramic therapist for people with disabilities and social issues, as well as workshops for kids from problematic neighbourhoods of Porto.

Right now I work in a cultural association in Gaia, where I have my ceramic studio and host a variety of events where I share my connection to clay with other people, always being inclusive in my goal of infecting everyone with this contagious ceramic passion.
